Series "Oblivion that Breathes" "The Void of the Gaze: An Exploration of the Lost" In this series of portraits, a profound experience of interaction with the surrounding world is embodied. These works reflect the sensation of emptiness one may encounter in other people, when it seems that beyond the outer shell, there is nothing left. These faces are not merely portraits of specific individuals, but metaphors. They capture the moment when human presence feels like absence, when the gaze becomes a mirror of emptiness, and instead of a soul, only a shadow emerges. Philosopher Søren Kierkegaard spoke of the "dread of existence" that arises when one faces the meaninglessness or lack of depth in another person. These portraits resonate with this idea, transporting the viewer into a space where masks fall away, and the question arises: what remains when authenticity disappears? From a psychological perspective, these images can be seen as reflections of the author's inner projection. They unveil the shadow side of reality, where, instead of interaction, a person encounters only an illusion. Perhaps this is a projection of a deep crisis in relationships, a rupture between essence and form. This series presents us with a challenge: are we capable of seeing not just the external, but the true? Can we return the soul to where it seems lost? The series consists of around 50 works. Materials: Charcoal, graphite, and pastel. The works come in two sizes without repetitions: 10.5x15.5 cm and 17.5x25 cm. Iren Moroz, 2022-2025.
