NIDUM The project "NIDUM" was realized during an artistic residency at Narodnyj Dim - Dom Ukraiński in November. The artwork, measuring 30 cm by 17 meters, utilizes rolled paper and ink. Over 24 hours were spent in the creative process. The canvas is rich with depictions of countless individuals and can be interpreted both from left to right and from right to left. The work highlights the theme of the constant movement of people departing from and returning to war, creating an incessant and unpredictable process. It is infused with numerous metaphors, portraying people as migratory birds, an invisible river between the Dnipro and the Vistula seeking new paths, or roots spreading throughout the world. One of the most powerful metaphors for me is the sound of the wheels of the first evacuation trains, which still evoke alarm in many. The artwork also depicts the heartbeat experienced in stressful and hopeless situations. Throughout the creation of this piece, I felt like a counter, documenting the number of casualties during torture, military actions, and migration amidst the war on the territory of Ukraine in the 21st century. I also documented the births of individuals under occupation, in free Ukraine, and in emigration, sensing the pressure and responsibility for each person crossing the borders of Ukraine and life, both physical and metaphorical borders.
